VeloChannel.com - Axxome 250 test

VeloChannel.com - Axxome 250 test
02/24/2015
RIGID BUT TOLERANT

The position is clearly race-oriented, with a fairly low front end. The first turns of the wheel reveal dynamic handling and a good feeling of lightness. This should be put into perspective, however, as the Axxome is equipped with "entry-level" Mavic Aksium wheels, not necessarily designed to be rushed. However, we also had the opportunity to ride an Axxome equipped with Mavic Ksyrium Elite S wheels, obtaining a very interesting result in terms of performance, with a very willing bike that only asks to be jolted.
Returning to our version presented here, it's nevertheless easy to pick up speed. The bike is responsive, and the effort is transmitted directly to the rear wheel, encouraging you to put on the watts. However, this rigid chassis is not exclusive: the bottom bracket is not completely locked and offers a degree of tolerance that makes it easy to change pace. The Axxome limits breakage on difficult rides, so you don't end up completely destroyed. Traction is good, and it filters out the roughness of the road. If the frame plays its part, the wheels have a lot to do with it too, especially with their 700×25 mm casings. The front end is firmer, confirming the first impression of a bike built for racing. The steering is precise and abrupt changes of direction are easy. The bike is well balanced and lively.
